Michigan New Firearm Laws In Effect Today 2/13/2024

Michigan Residents Effective 2/13/2024 there new firearm regulations in effect.

The regulations that pertain to purchases made at a Federally Licensed Firearms retailer are detailed below:

If you have a valid Michigan (non-emergency) Concealed Pistol License (CPL) any firearm purchase is the same as before 2/13/204 and we process the transaction.

If you do not have a Michigan CPL, and want to purchase a handgun, you have to first obtain a Firearm Purchase Permit (RI-10a) from your local Sheriff or Police Department and bring it with you.

If you do not have a Michigan CPL, and want to purchase a non-handgun, we process the transaction and no Firearm Purchase Permit is required.

FYI, we perform an FBI NICS background check on all firearm purchases without exception.

The regulations that pertain to private purchases are detailed below:

Private Sales of all firearms now require a Firearm Purchase Permit (RI-10a) or a valid CPL without exception. Handguns are still registered. Non-handguns are not registered.
